Smaug by Angela-T Smaug by Angela-T
started this a year ago but got inspiration to finish it after watching some behind the scenes footage of the next hobbit movie, the desolation of smaug. so excited!
this is pretty much how i always envisioned him and this scene. (yes I know bilbo is supposed to be invisible but this is from his point of view so we can see him)

photoshop cs5 and wacom intuos4 tablet

no, not Smaug, I will complain to all Smaug "artists" he is lion faced, furry cheeks and fur down his spin, missing a scale on his chest, VERY red, cat eared and has an under bite.

Yes, if I were drawing the 70's cartoon one. But I'm not. ;P This is how I pictured him when I read the actual book.

yes, the half-a-century-ago-cartoon version is exactly like that. not the tolkien/real version or the modern version.

Ah, this is great! I love the looks on Smaug's face and the way the gold shines!

I don't know really how to say it, but I love how you visualized this!! I mean you seem to have captured the overwhelming and anxious feeling that Bilbo must have had when he saw Smaug. I just get pulled into this picture right away. And honestley, I think that's what art is all about, sharing a feeling with the audience. It's like a story you're telling, and you are telling one of the most amazing stories ever told! LOVE THE HOBBIT!!
